Suspended 1911?

"The poetry of the earth is never dead."
-- John Keats

"The passion caused by the great and sublime in nature . . . is Astonishment; and astonishment is that state of the soul, in which all its motions are suspended, with some degree of horror. In this case the mind is so entirely filled with its object, that it cannot entertain any other."
-- Edmund Burke 'On the Sublime'

"Cave of the Winds in Winter"
Niagara Falls [Niagara County, New York]
A-17363. "The Cave of the Winds, gyved with a marvelous accumulation of ice, and the great flow of water completely hidden by crystalline helmets. Such a sight is rarely to be witnessed, however, for history records only three, the last time in 1886, when, it is said, a million persons visited Niagara to see the marvelous exhibition of the ice king."
